Collaborating into a New Era: TransWorld University & United Chinese School Committees Association of Malaysia Pushed Vocational Education Programs Forward
The eight Chinese Independent High School Teachers nominated by United Chinese School Committees Association of Malaysia (UCSCAM) attended "TQC-IP Certification Training Workshop" organized by Department of Visual Communication Design and Center for International Affairs at TransWorld University (TWU) between September 6 and 10. The five-day program introduces to TQC-IP fundamentals, such as operational knowledge, production & editing, and drawing tools, which was in charge by the Chairperson Prof. Chih-Ying Tsai and Prof. Hsiu-Ju Wang. In addition, the delegation members were well-received by Chief Norman of Center for International Affairs, Chief Pengo of Secretariat Office, and Mr. Min-Nan Lin of Department of Visual Communication Design during their stay on campus, as they loved the great food and beautiful scenery that Douliou has to offer! The delegates contributed the success of the Workshop to the conscientious instruction and attentive care from the TransWorld faculty.

Prof. Feng-Shua Wu, the Secretary General, was invited to act as the host of the Welcoming Ceremony, with the presence of top-ranked TransWorld officials, who highly praised the close cooperation of TWU and UCSCAM for marking the breakthrough in the field of vocational education between Taiwan and Malaysia. On the other hand, Mr. Teoh Shaw Gie (Keat Hwa High School), the delegation leader, not only expected to obtain professional certification in 2D Image Processing with the assistance of Authorized Training and Testing Center at TWU, but also expressed his keen interest in making good use of such a platform of digital education established by TWU to facilitate the exchange in the curriculum of Arts and Crafts in Malaysia. The eight Chinese Independent High School Teachers are Ms. Ho Shi Li (Foon Yew High School, Kulai Campus), Mr. Yong Cheng Yue (Sabah Chinese Secondary School, Tawau), Mr. Chan Thim Choy (Chong Hwa High School, Kuala Lumpur), Mr. Lee Chin Hooi (Han Chiang High School), Mr. Lee Kim Hwee (Chong Hwa High School, Jalan Besar), Mr. Yeep Tiam Soon and Mr. Yiap Chee Hsiung (both from Chong Hwa High School, Kluang).

In the Closing Ceremony, Prof. Chien-Hua Shen, the Vice President, in exchange of his viewpoints with fellow delegates, emphasized that TWU is willing to develop a series of on-the-job training programs, for instance, baking & hospitality, fashion styling, and cultural innovation to improve the teaching expertise of Chinese Independent High School Teachers. He was also in support of online teaching to benefit self-study at home. That the idea of designating TWU teachers and students to serve in Malaysia is greatly appreciated.


TransWorld University has been dedicating herself engaging in the cooperation of the vocational education in cosmetology, hospitality, and design with Chinese Independent High Schools in Malaysia since 2007. It is envisioned that, through international cooperation and exchange, such curriculum incorporated with training and certification into the syllabus of Arts and Crafts will help build designer certification for teachers and students in Malaysia, in a bid to advance their expertise in professional domains to gain competitive edge in the era of globalization.

It is worth mentioning that Techficiency Quotient Certification (TQC) Authorized Training and Testing Center at TWU has already helped more than 250 teachers and students obtain TQC Photoshop CS3 certification, remarked by Chairperson Prof. Tsai.
